Avanex provides solutions and technologies that give network designers a tool to limit cumbersome and expensive electrical-optical-electrical signal conversions. A key Avanex feature of remote software reconfigurability gives a network operator the flexibility to change both the number and the designations of the optical signals that can be added or dropped at a node, without disrupting the transmission of the express channels that pass through the OADM node. Other intelligent solutions provide remote management of a fixed channel add/drop combination, with the capability to balance the power levels of channels as they are added or passed through an OADM node.
