Position Summary:
As a key member of the engineering team, the Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the design and layout of the mechanical parts,
as well as providing technical support for mechanical issues.
Responsibilities:
- Design and layout the mechanical parts for the whole device package using
Solidworks or CAD software, based on optical requirements.
- Design and develop mechanical tooling for device and subcomponent assembling.
- Design the mechanical parts for module/rack mount integration.
- Procure and develop the supplier for new mechanical parts to assist in
building prototype assemblies.
- Resolve and troubleshoot mechanical-related issues during the whole product
development cycle.
- Partner with process engineers to develop the assembling process for manufacturability.
- Review customer specs for mechanical-related issues.
- Work closely with different
groups (optical, PCBA, process and reliability), and provide technical support
on mechanical issues.
Qualifications:
- Must posses a solid theoretical understanding of thermal design, stress
strain and material properties.
- Hands-on experience in a machine shop and optical device assembling are
preferred.
- Must possess good communication skills and the ability to interface with
different groups.
- Experience in hermetically laser sealing is preferred.
- Familiarity with optical device processes and reliability requirements
for passive and active optical components is preferred.
- 3+ years of experience with telecom optical devices is required
- B.S. degree
in Mechanical Engineering or related degree is required
