West Coast Regional Sales Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Avanex Sales Manager is the primary liaison between our customers and
the internal Avanex teams responsible for Product Line Management,
Development, and Operations. This key position leads the account team that supports current business, drives the acquisition of new business, and acts as
an internal customer advocate. The Sales Manager reports directly to the
Director of Sales, North America.  

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all activity (commercial and technical) with the assigned
    strategic account.
  • Build strong relationships with customers that result in a strategic advantage for Avanex.
  • Develop and execute account plans that are consistent with product
    line and corporate strategies.
  • Lead and execute all commercial response to product inquiries from
    initial RFI to full documentation submission for RFQ response.
  • Provide Avanex with data and analysis on customers, competition,
    and end users.
  • Provide Avanex with updated revenue forecast for customers within assigned territories/accounts.
  • Prospect and bring in new customers within the territory.
  • Negotiate supply contracts, help resolve quality and warranty issues,
    and ensure both customers and Avanex meet commitments.
  • Support the rest of the North America Sales team.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of successful experience in electronic / optical component or hardware technology sales with at least 3 years experience in strategic account management is required.
  • BS Degree in Engineering or Physics and/or post-graduate / executive MBA is preferred.
  • Strong negotiation, influencing and relationship-building skills are required.
  • Must possess outstanding phone, written, and verbal communication skills, as well as executive-level presentation skills.
  • The ability to develop and execute account plans and think strategically across multiple product lines are required.
  • Must possess a strong and professional work ethic.
  • Must be passionate about individual and team performance and overall corporate success.
  • Strong team member capable of motivating and elevating the performance of others is preferred.
